Greetings from Appleton, Wisconsin!
I recently came across this stunning postcard featuring a mural at the First National Bank in Appleton. The mural, designed by Mrs. Zelda Strecker from St. Charles, Illinois, depicts the concept of the Sun and Sky and measures an impressive 80 feet by 26 feet. What makes this mural truly unique is that it is constructed of only three materials – hollow steel rods, painted metallic gold fused glass, and wire cloth typically used in paper making machines.
According to the postcard, this mural is currently the only one of its kind in the world. It’s amazing to think about the time and effort that went into creating such a masterpiece. The intricate details and vibrant colors must be truly breathtaking to see in person.
I can only imagine the impact this mural has on visitors to the bank. It must be a source of inspiration and wonder for all who have the opportunity to view it. I hope to one day visit Appleton and see this incredible work of art for myself.
If you’re ever in the area, be sure to stop by the First National Bank and take a moment to admire this one-of-a-kind mural. It’s a true testament to the creativity and talent of Mrs. Zelda Strecker and a must-see for art enthusiasts everywhere.
Until next time,
