Greetings from Nagasaki!
I hope this postcard finds you well, Caroline. I wanted to share with you the exciting news that our big meeting of 3,000 people has now moved to Nagasaki, the city where the Abomb was dropped. Currently, there are about 500 doctors and friends gathered here, making it a bustling and vibrant place to be.
Nagasaki is a city with a rich history, being the 18th port of Japan open to trade with the rest of the world. The city has a strong Chinese influence, as evidenced by the many Chinese elements you can see in the architecture and culture. The city has a long history of trade with China and today, there are huge shipyards here, showcasing the city’s importance in maritime trade.
One of the notable landmarks in Nagasaki is the Sufukuji Temple, also known as the “Chinese Temple.” It is the oldest temple of the Obaku sect in Japan, built by Chinese immigrants in the 17th century. The temple is a beautiful example of the cultural exchange between Japan and China.
I wish you were here to experience the beauty and history of Nagasaki with me. Sending you love from across the miles.
Warm regards,
Cynee from Ohio, U.S.A.
