The postcard features a photo of the famous Chincoteague Wild Ponies on Assateague Island in Virginia. These ponies are known for roaming freely on the sandy beaches and in the ocean surf of the barrier island. Assateague Island was originally called Running Stream in Between by its Native American inhabitants.
