Back of PostcardGreetings from the Milwaukee Public Museum in Wisconsin! Today, we are featuring a beautiful postcard showcasing the wild turkey, a bird of the deciduous forest.

Did you know that the wild turkey was named from the mistaken idea that it came from Turkey? This American bird once had a vast range, from New England to Florida and west to Arizona. The image on this postcard depicts the wild turkey in an upland pine area of Georgia, showcasing its natural habitat.

We are proud to have this exhibit sponsored by Gimbels and produced exclusively for the Milwaukee Public Museum. The museum is a treasure trove of natural history and cultural artifacts, and we invite you to come and explore all that we have to offer.

If you’re ever in the Milwaukee area, be sure to visit us at the Milwaukee Public Museum. We look forward to sharing more about the wild turkey and many other fascinating exhibits with you. Until then, happy exploring!
