This postcard features a description of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The construction of the tower began in 1174 and was completed 99 years later. It was designed by Bonanno Pisano and finished by Giovanni di Simone, with Tommaso di Andrea Pisano adding a bell-cell. The tower stands at a height of 55.863 meters, with a maximum height of 56.705 meters. Its interior base diameter is 7.368 meters, while the exterior base diameter is 15.484 meters. The tower has 8 floors and 294 steps, resting on foundations about 3 meters deep. It weighs a total of 14,500 tons and leans at an angle of 4.500 meters. The bell-cell of the tower contains 7 bells tuned to the seven musical notes. The oldest bell, called the Pasquareccia, rang for the death of Count Ugolino della Gherardesca. The tower is also famous for being the location where Galileo Galilei performed his trial about gravitation. It is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
